Happy Chick Birthday

Today's card is made with another set of cute stamps from Unity.  The set is called Itty Bitty " Happy Chick Birthday".  There are two stamps in the set, and I love that the images are so fun.

Here's the card:

I made this card for my sister's birthday today - Happy Birthday!!!.  My sister is quite a cardmaker herself, so I had to find a way to add some details which I hope she will like.

First, I used the Scor-buddy to score along the edge of the card to give it a frame.  Then I added some faux stitches with a white gel pen.  I cut a strip of stripe paper, adhered a thin strip of patterned paper at the top and tied a jute string around it and adhered it to the cardbase.  The cute chicks image was stamped with Memento and coloured with copics.  Here, I've used Y21 and YR00 for the body of the little chicks, R20 & RV00 for the blush, YR17 & YR04 on the beaks.  For the hats, I used BG10, BG13, YG01, YR02 and RV21.  The little chicks image was cut using a Papertrey Ink die.  The sentiment was coloured using more copic markers (BG11, BG13, YR00, YR02, R27, BG10, RV00, V01, YR24).

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you'll have a wonderful day!

Unity Friends with Flair

Once again, I'm delighted to be playing along with Unity Friends with Flair.  It's been quite a day here, rather eventful, running errands and finding out a neighbour on my street was robbed just outside her home (thankfully, she is ok), and now it's time to watch the Royal Wedding!

Today, my card is a little different - I tried something new, i.e, stamping on canvas.

On a piece of canvas measuring 3"x4.25", I stamped the branch and rose image (Itty Bitty WP Beauty) all around the edges. Next, I stamped the Bird on a branch image from KOM April 2011 in the centre and added some i-rock blings on the eye of the bird and several other spots on the branch.  Then I added some Distress Stain (Antique Linen) and Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass) on the canvas.  To add some definition to the canvas layer, I distressed the canvas edges with Walnut Stain.

The background paper is actually a Christmas paper (Webster's Pages, Sweet Season) - I love the colour & pattern.  I did some piercing around the paper and sewed around it using Baker's Twine and tied a little bow on one corner.  To finish off the card, I added a pink felt flower (cut using a Sizzix die) and leaves.

Here's a closer look at the flower corner:

I can't wait to see what everyone else has created.  Thank you for visiting.  I hope you'll have a wonderful day!

Make It Monday Challenge

Today, I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday Challenge - Line Frame 101.  I adore Papertrey Ink products but I have not used them enough. Guess it's time bring out the supplies and ink them up ;-)  The challenge requires a line frame on the project - I love the idea!

I decided to go with a CAS card.  I stamped the images, then made two lined frames, a larger one around the outer edge and a smaller one to frame the sentiment.  I also added another line embossed frame using the Scor-buddy.  I'd love to hear what you think.

Enjoy today and thanks for stopping by.

Make A Wish

I totally ADORE Pure Innocence stamps from My Favorite Things - something about the little PI girl that speaks to my heart.  So, last night I decided I should participate in the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch.

And, here's my card:

I think I kept pretty much to the sketch and tried a colour combo that I've not used before, i.e. browns and shades of teal.  I paper pieced the little girl's dress and did a little faux stitching around the card. Added a little distressing around the stamped image with Distress Ink and then spritzed some water to add a bit of interest on the background. I had the horizontal strips on pop dots so that I could tie the ribbon with baker's twine on the bottom strip panel.

I hope you like the card. Have fun today!

Love You With All My Heart

Hi, I have another card today for Mum, made using My Favorite Things stamp set "Love You With All My Heart".  I had this stamp for a little while and didn't have time to ink it till now.  This card is for my mum's birthday, which is coming soon.  She doesn't read my blog, so it's ok.

The card size measures 5 x 7" a little bigger than a standard sized card.  I made two scored frames along the edge of the cardbase with the Scor-buddy, and added white stitch lines with my white gel pen around  them.  Just underneath the focal image, I added a piece of lace which came from my mum's sewing supplies.  When my parents moved in with me, my brother and I cleared out their house and we found a bag of lace and buttons.  My mum loved to sew but now her eyesight isn't so good, so she doesn't sew anymore.  I thought it would be nice to add a piece of her lace onto this card.

I hope she'll like the card... made with all my heart.

For Mum

Hi. Happy Monday!  Today, I'm sharing a card for Mother's Day.  I'm a little rusty with my colouring, so it's time to practise a little more.  And to make the card, I used this card sketch from Waltzing Mouse's challenge #44.
Here's the card:

I love, love this Rose stamp from Waltzing Mouse's "Roses in Bloom".  I coloured it with Copic Markers - YR02, YR12, YR24 for the flower centre, Y11, R24, R22, R20 for the petals.  The piercing around the card was made with help from Tim Holtz's ruler.  It's not very obvious in the photo, but I also did some scoring around the stamped image "Mum" just to emphasise it a little.

It's been awhile that I've not given Mum a Mother's Day card, and I hope she will like the card.

Have a great day!

Baby Card

I hardly make baby cards, because I really don't have friends with babies or babies on the way.  Unusual, isn't it?  Somehow all my girlfriends are career ladies ;-).

But, occasionally, I see really nice baby stamps and I just have to ink them up.  Maybe someday I could give the baby cards away.  Here's a closer look at the card:

I coloured the baby clothes with Copic markers and added some glitter dots on them.  It was quite some job trying the get the clothes to line up with the help of a Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I love the sentiment, just adorable.

Thanks for visiting today.

Dream and Believe

Hi, isn't everyone so glad it's Friday??  I sure am, and Friday also means a time to participate in the Unity Friends with Flair.  Yay!!

I've got  a simple card to share, with images from Unity's April KOM.   If you have not tried the Unity KOM, you won't be disappointed, it's fabulous value.   Here's my card:

The cardbase was embossed with Sizzix BasicGrey's Powdered Sugar folder.  I stamped the harlequin background onto a ledger paper and adhered  the strip onto the card.  The focal image was stamped on white cardstock and coloured with Copic Markers (R24, YG01, E11, YR12, R02 and B00).  I also distressed the edges a little with Distress Ink Scattered Straw.  Then I stamped the three butterflies using various inks in Red, Green and Blue.  I added some blings onto the green butterfly.

I look forward to see all the lovely FWF's entries.  And, for all of you who celebrate Easter, I hope you'll have a fabulous weekend remembering the death and resurrection of Christ.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Cute Chick

It looks like this will be a Birthday week - I've been busy making lots of Birthday cards.  I just received my Unity KOM too, so it was fun that I got to use some of the stamps.

This is for a friend:

I love that cute little chick from the April KOM, and when I saw the glasses images in the same KOM, I thought it would be super cute to use one of them with the chick.  I added glitter to the frame of the glasses.  The image was coloured with copic markers.

My latest craze on cards is to make an embossed frame using my Scor-Buddy, so here's the first card with that technique.  Over the next few posts, you see more cards with the same technique.  Sometimes I like the colour of the cardstock and I don't want to add any patterned paper on it but it looked rather plain, so this technique is a good way to add some interest to the cardbase.

Hope you like the card.  Have a great day!

Birthday Card

Today is my dad's birthday.  I know he loves chocolate cake, and I hope he'll like the cake I made.  In a little while, when my brother gets here, we'll be bringing out the cake.  My dad doesn't remember when his birthday is anymore, but he was so happy this morning when I wished him "Happy Birthday".  When I asked what he would love to have for dinner (we're taking him out tonight) he said anything will do, he's just happy that we are celebrating with him.  Sometimes, his simplicity really melts my heart.

Here's the card I made for him:

It's a simple card, and I hope he likes it.  I used the stamps from Unity-Jillibean's Spotted Owl Soup set with papers from Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety.

Ok, I'm off to get the cake ready.

Have a lovely day!!

Flowers and Friends

Hi again.  So glad the weekend is here.   I've nothing planned except to meet some friends and spend some time catching up.  I've missed my friends, being away for almost 3 months.  Emails and online chats are not the same as meeting face to face.

So, thinking about friends and friendships, I made this card today:

Close up view of the flowers

I am so grateful for my friends...they stand by me and cheer me up through good and bad times, they seek the good in me and want what's best for me.  No matter how far apart and how long we've not seen each other, the bond we share can never be broken.  What a blessing!

The colour inspiration for the card today is from the Embellish Magazine challenge.  I always think Embellish Magazine has such interesting challenges - I'm glad to be able to play along today.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a lovely weekend!

A Class of Your Own

Hi, I'm about to head out the door to see the dentist.  Urgh...not my favourite thing to do, but well.  Last night I organised my Unity KOM kits from the past few months (which I haven't inked yet), and had to play a little with the stamps.

Here's what I did:

I tried the "thumping" method (my first time) of inking with a marker (darker coloured ink) over a lighter inked stamp image, and I rather like the results.  I must tell you though in 24 hours (since I got back) my desk is already cluttered, and the room looks so messy - just because I needed to find things that I had kept away.  I need to get better at organisation.

I'm submitting this to the Unity challenge - Fashion Forward & Unity's FWF.

Enjoy today!

You Brighten My Day

I'm so glad to be home!  My flight arrived ahead of schedule, but getting home took quite sometime in the rush hour traffic. So glad to see my parents are well.  I think my dad knew I was coming home - my mum told me he had been talking in his sleep and calling out my name.  It was extra special that he recognised me immediately.  It's good to be back.

Today's card describes exactly how I feel, not just seeing my parents' happy faces, but also thinking of my friend, Marcie who sent me the stamp set which I've used for the card.  Thank you SO much for your thoughtfulness, Marcie.  I love the stamp set!

I used the sketch from Stamp TV's challenge STVSKSP21 to create the card.  It feels wonderful to sit at my desk and look out the window and be inspired.

I hope you are having a great day too.

More Notecards

Hi, today will be the last post from cards I made over my last weekend in Auckland.  I think I ended up making more than 20 cards, but I won't post all of them here and bore you ;-).  By the time this post goes live, I should be back home, and hopefully have unpacked (maybe a little optimistic lol!).

Today's notecards are made with the Webster's Pages journal cards.  The WP journal cards are so gorgeous, and I used one each from the Hollywood Vogue & WonderFall packs.  The notecards measure 4 x 4.5".

I added some rolled paper flowers & leaves to the first notecard,  and a sticker sentiment to the second notecard.  These cards are easy to make, especially when in a rush, and needing a notecard as is or to go with a gift.

I hope you've enjoyed my series of cards without stamping the past few days.  I shall be back soon with my regular style of cards.

Before I go, here's a photo of beautiful Auckland with views of the waterfront, not too far from where I stayed.

Two Cards

Today I have some Webster's Pages cards to share.  I can't tell you how much I love these papers.  They are so pretty and one doesn't need much effort to create a great looking card with them.

Here are the cards:

These two cards are made out of one sheet of 6x6 paper. Amazing, right?

For the first card, I used the top portion of the WonderFall paper, added some WP lace trim and a stacked stamped doily (My Mind's Eye stamp set) with a button to finish up the card.

On the second card, I used the bottom section of the WonderFall paper, then added a scalloped edge paper (from the same collection) at the bottom, adhered the SRM sticker "Life is sweet", and to finish up the card, I couldn't resist adding a WP sparkler.

Do you like the cards?

I'll be back to show you yet another fun idea with Webster's Pages journal cards tomorrow.

Have a marvellous day!

Note Cards

Hi, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  Today I have some notecards to share.  These cards measure 4x4" and it's easy to create a bunch of them to give away or as gift cards.

The note cards were made using Cosmo Cricket Social Club 6x6 pad, and some SRM stickers.  I love the colours of the Social Club papers and they are so suitable for masculine cards.

Thank you for stopping by.  A couple more posts on the simple cards, and I should be home and back to stamping.

Monstrosity Birthday cards

Over the weekend, I've been given various papers to work on for cards, sort of a challenge.  So, I was on a roll to make as many cards as I could.  I'll be scheduling the posts over the next few days to show you what I've done, as I'll be busy finishing up some work and packing up to go home.

Here's two of the cards :

I've always loved the Monstrosity collection by Sassafras Lass, and I wanted to make some fun cards with the papers.  For the cards below, I've used various papers from the 6x6 pad.

The first card, I've combined the cute monsters paper with the Cosmo Cricket Coredinations cardstock and some elements from Bella Blvd's Estate Sale & SRM Stickers.

For the second card, I added some SRM stickers with the Sassafras feltie which is totally cute.

More cards coming soon...

Butterflies

Everybody loves butterflies... maybe it's because butterflies are so colourful and so pretty.  I remember going to my cousins' house when I was a little girl - they live on a huge estate, with a football field and a badminton court and lots & lots of fruit trees and orchids.  They had a small butterfly farm as well, and my cousins taught me how to catch butterflies, preserve them and have them framed up.  It was such a lot of fun.

Today's card is somewhat inspired by that memory...

No stamping (again!) and just using the Webster's Pages' beautiful journal card & papers.  The butterflies background was done using an embossing plate.  I inked the plate before embossing the paper.

Here's a closer look at the stacked butterflies.  The die cut butterflies are from Cheery Lynn Designs - same technique, ink the die then emboss and cut.  Don't you think the butterflies are beautiful?

Enjoy your day!

Card with no Stamping!

Today's card is made without any stamping!!  I find it really hard to make cards without using stamps and no colouring, but I guess it's good to try something out of my comfort zone.
Here's my card (sorry, the photo isn't very good):

What do you think?  I used the papers from Webster's Pages 6x6 Petite Pad - I love how beautiful the papers are, and it makes everything so easy to piece together.  The dress form is cut out from Webster's Christmas paper, and I added some die cut lace borders and lace trim and adhered them to the card with pop dots.  Then I added another strip of the die cut lace border and an SRM sticker "Follow Your Heart" and the card is done.
Thank you for stopping by.

Have a wonderful day!
