Tuesday Trigger - Hello

I love this Tuesday Trigger photo!  Something about butterflies and the colours that are so appealing.  I thought it would be fun to use whatever stamp that's on my desk for this challenge.

No butterflies!  It was the first thing I thought of but I didn't have any butterflies on my desk.  After lots of false starts (do you have those?), I arrived at this...

I love the colours on the trigger photo and tried to have them all on this card.  It was quite some challenge but I really enjoyed creating this card.  I hope you can see in this, a little of how what goes in my head (all the bursts of colours and emotion) when I first saw the trigger photo.

Thank you for visiting me.

Wishing you a fabulous weekend!

Unity Friends with Flair (27.04.2012)

Happy Friday!  I look forward to this every week, where I get to hang out with my Unity friends.  You can join us by checking out the Unity blog, and be inspired.  Be sure to comment for you might win some Unity goodies.

The weather has been so hot here, and it's hard to be inspired to do anything in this heat.  That said, I did manage a card for this week's FWF.  Thanks to Emily Keaton and Unity, for I got picked to win this Itty Bitty "You are my main squeeze" during Emily's GIU week.

Love this sweet little girl and her teddy bear! The image was coloured with Copic markers - Hair (Y11, Y28), Hearts (R39, R37, R35, R32), Skin (E000, E01, E11), Bear (E31, E33, E35), Top (R20, R22, R35), Pants (B99, B95, B93, B91), Shoes (C1, R35), Ground (Y21, Y28).  I did some sponging around the edges with Distress Inks Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters.  The sentiment is from the Brandy & Emma set "Constant Companions".  The patterned papers are Lawn Fawn's "Bright Side".

Thank you for coming by today.  I really look forward to reading your comments - thanks so much for leaving them.

Birthday Card

Just a short post today, to share a Birthday card.   I wanted to ink up my new Flourishes set Botanical Bookplates I and play along with Flourishes' Timeless Tuesdays.  This week, it's a bingo challenge.

I decided to go with the far right blocks - Bling, Die Cut and Emboss.  And, here's my card:

The cardbase was die cut from a Doily Rectangle (Quickutz).  I did the letterpress technique with an Embossing folder (Spellbinders M-bossabilities Mystic) just behind the flower image.  The flowers were coloured with Copic Markers - Leaves (YG11, YG13, YG17, YG61 & YG93), Flowers - RV10, RV34, R0000 and Background (G000 & BG0000).  The sentiment was stamped on white cardstock and adhered onto a ticket diecut (Whimsy Stamps ticket die).

Thanks for stopping by ;)

A Change of View

I love this inspiration photo found at Paper Smooches' Sparks Challenge. The fruits in the waffle cones look absolutely delicious.  I just love the colours and the texture of the waffle cones.

Here's my take on the challenge:

To mimic the texture of the cones, I did some misting with The Crafter's Workshop template (Mini Screen) with Studio Calico's Mr Hueys ( Powder Blue and Pretty Pink).  The stamped images are all from Paper Smooches' Get Outta Town set.  I love this set! The images are stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and coloured with Copic markers.

Have a happy week!

Hello, today, I have a Birthday Card to share.  I used the Earth Angel set, she's cute, isn't she?  I coloured her with Copic Markers and popped her up with some pop dots onto a doily die-cut.  The Copics I used are : Dress - RV91, RV93, RV95; Skin - E50, E01. E11, R20; Stars, Leaves & Flowers - Y08, YG21, YG13, R22, R20; Outline - B000 & BG0000.  The Lilac strip and the cardbase were embossed with Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Mystic.

The card follows the sketch #94 at Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge. The cardstock I used are Hero Arts' Lilac and Iris Layering papers and the patterned paper is from Lawn Fawn's Bright Side 6x6 pad.

Small Things with Great Love

Can you tell that I'm in love with Magnolias?  This card uses the large magnolia image from the beautiful Magnolias set from Flourishes.  I've been admiring the gorgeous Flourishes floral stamps for a long, long time, but I hesitated to purchase them.  Simply because I felt a little unsure of my colouring skill to bring the images to life.  But there's no need to be fearful, isn't it, we all need to start somewhere and practise to improve.

The flowers were coloured with Copic Markers RV00, RV63, RV66, RV69, and a touch of YG00 for the flower centre.  The leaves were coloured with YG21, YG03, YG17.  The sentiment is from the set Mother's Words of Wisdom and I love this beautiful quote from Mother Teresa.  The sentiment was cut with Flourishes' Classic Bookplate Template die.  After stamping the sentiment, I cut the pattern paper with the die, and then flip the die to cut the other end with the same edge.  Here's what I did :

Die-cut the sentiment using Classic Bookplate Template Die

Flip the die and place it on the sentiment piece again and cut it again

You'll have a matching edge for the sentiment, and you can emboss it in the same way

The patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found II Blush 6x6 pad.

I'm so glad to be able to play along for the first time, with Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday challenge.

Here's a little video (my first one) to share the new Flourishes stamp sets I purchased ;)  My hand was a little shaky, so I apologise if you feel a little dizzy {grin} & it's so strange hearing myself on the video.

Have a lovely weekend!

Unity Friends with Flair (20.04.2012)

Wow, Friday is here again, the week has gone so quickly by.  Are you looking forward to the weekend?  I sure am.  We'll be going out to dinner tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to it.

Thank you so much for your kind words and wishes for my dad yesterday.  He had a lovely birthday and he is well. This card is dedicated to all who have relatives and/or friends who are suffering from Alzheimers.  I know it's sad to gradually lose your loved ones to this illness.  There are days when my dad appears to be in a world where I can't reach him.  I would really miss his coherent self, the dad who can converse and laugh with me.  But, we have more good days than the not-so-good ones, and it's a blessing.

I feel I didn't do this image much justice, trying to colour the setting sun {grins}, it simply didn't look right, but I hope you like the message of the card.  The image is from the Unity set by Phyllis Harris, Present in my Heart.

Please be sure to hop along with the Friends with Flair today.  Have a beautiful day!!

Sunflowers

Welcome to another Thursday inspiration from Inspired Stamps!  This week our assignment is to use Floral stamps and Scripture for Lots of Flowers theme.

I've chosen to use one of my favourite floral sets, "Flowers", and sentiment from the set "Sing for Joy".  I thought it would be nice to create a background with lots of Sunflowers.

I stamped the sunflowers using Memento Rich Cocoa on a piece of white cardstock, and coloured the flowers with Copic Markers Y11, Y21, Y17, Y38, YG00 and outline it with G000.  The sentiment piece was die cut with Spellbinders Floral Oval die and I stamped the sunflowers again, this time with Memento Desert Sand and coloured them with Y00, Y11, YR00, YG00.  I also cut out a piece patterned paper (Lily Bee - Head over Heels) using the same Floral Oval die, and cut out the centre oval using the pierced holes as a guide and adhered it on the sentiment piece.

I hope this card cheers your day, and for more inspiration, please visit the Inspired Stamps blog.

Today is also my dad's birthday.  He doesn't remember his own birthdays anymore, and his age.  But, we sang a song for him and wished him, and I baked him his favourite chocolate cake.  It is customary for us to give a packet filled with some money for birthdays, and my dad almost had tears in his eyes when I gave him  a little something and this card.

It's a simple card and I had the butterfly diecut as a symbol that oneday God will set him free from Alzheimers.  But, we are so thankful to God, for today that we can still enjoy my dad's presence with us. (The card follows the sketch at Simon Says Stamp).

Have a wonderful day!

A Bunch of Cards

Hi!  Today, I'm sharing a bunch of cards made for friends.  All cards were made with images from Wee Stamps by Sylvia Zet.

Here's the first one.  I made this card for one of my oldest friend, Selene, whom I've not met for a long, long time.  We sort of fell out of touch and then reconnected again last year.  She found out I was really into cardmaking and I thought it would be nice to send her this card.  The image on the card is Wee Suzi, which can be found at Whimsy Stamps.

Next, is a card for a new friend, Kim, who is really into crafting like me.  She makes beautiful altered projects, mini albums and scrapbook pages too.  I sent this card to her for her birthday recently, and I'm so glad she loved it.  This card uses the digital image of Goldie, which can be found on Wee Stamps or Whimsy Stamps, if you like rubber.

I added some clear glitter on the coloured image, and here is a closer look:

The last card was made for my dear friend, Sue L, who celebrated her birthday last month.  We caught up in Zurich and had a great time.  On her card, I used the lovely girl from Sweet Blossom.

How awesome it is to have friends! "Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity" - Kahil Gibran.

I'm also playing along with Crafty Friends Challenge #2, which calls for a card with two die-cuts.

Thinking of You

I love magnolias, they are such pretty flowers. I've never seen a real magnolia till I saw my sister had them in her garden.  She has the white and pink magnolias and I always look forward to see them bloom, as it's a sign that Spring is just around the corner.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this stamp set with the magnolias - Stately Flowers 3 by Melanie Muenchinger. So happy it came in the mail this week.

It's a gorgeous set, isn't it?  And, here's my card:

The magnolia flower is coloured with Copic Markers - Flower Centre (R01, R02), Petals (R81, R83, R85, R89, Leaves (YG21, YG03, YG17), Branch (YG91, YG95), Outline (BG000).  The patterned papers are from Authentique Uncommon 6x6.

This card was made for the StampTV Garden Inspiration challenge this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have a lovely day!

Best Wishes

Hi, today's Waltzing Mouse Blog Party theme is New Beginnings.  I wanted to create a card which is suitable for many new beginnings.  A card which I could send for any celebration, as well as to use a colour combo I've never tried before... {grin}

The pansies are from Afternoon Tea Sentiments.  I googled for pansies and found they do come in this red-orange colour which I really like.  I coloured the pansies with Copic Markers R01, R02, R05 and RV69.  The leaves are coloured using YG61, YG63 and YG65.  Just behind the pansies is a beautiful frame from Florentine Frippery (stamped with Memento Tangelo) and the sentiment (stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa on vellum) is from Big Day Additions.

Here are some close-up pics:
Love the shimmer on the coloured image from using the Cryogen cardstock
Stamped and cut the single pansy to be attached to the sentiment
Thank you so much for coming by.  Please come along for the Blog Party, for I'm sure you will be inspired by the awesome creations from the Waltzing Mouse fans.

Enjoy!

Be Still..

Today's card is using my favourite Unity stamp "Your Wings Exist" by Phyllis Harris, which is also on sale!  I just love this little girl, I coloured the stamped image with Copic Markers - Skin (E000, E01, E13), Hair (E21, E33, E18, E99) , Grass (YG11, YG17, YG63, E31).  Her dress is paper pieced and I added some shadows using Copic Marker C1.  I masked the girl image and stamped the background "Giving It All Meaning" with Versafine Smoky Gray and sponged some Distress Inks Tumbled Glass and Spun Sugar over it. Then I used Spellbinders Floral Ovals to cut out the image, and sponged more Tumbled Glass just over the floral edges for more definition. The background white cardstock was embossed with Spellbinders M-Bossabilities So Trendy (I love this!).  The sentiment was stamped on vellum and I embossed the edges with dots for some interest.

I hope you like this card.  Be sure to check out the Unity blog for more inspiration from the Friends with Flair participants today.

Enjoy!

For Mums

Welcome to another Inspired Stamps post.  I have a special card for all the Mothers everywhere!  For truly, I am in awe - a mother's responsibility is great, her love and her resilience are unending.  She cares for the whole family lovingly and sacrifices of herself, putting their needs and well-being ahead of her own, most times.  Hats off to you!!

This Scripture sentiment comes from the Inspired Stamps set "Proverbs 31 Women" - it's a wonderful set with the appropriate sentiments for a Mother's Day card or to encourage the Girlfriends/Aunt/Sister, etc.  I stamped the little rosette from "1inch Flowers" set three times just above the Scripture sentiment.  The sentiment piece was cut out using an Oval die and I inked some Distress Ink Spun Sugar all around the edges, and matted it onto an Oval doily diecut.  The patterned paper is from Webster's Pages- Country Estate 6x6 pad.  A string of tafetta ribbon was placed just behind the sentiment, and I added a little floral piece made from the same ribbon just to the left.
Thank you so much for coming by today.  For more Inspired Stamps inspiration, be sure to visit the rest of the DT's blogs and the Inspired Stamps blog.

Have a beautiful day!

Peace, Love and Happiness

What would you wish for if you were a millionaire?  I can think of LOTS!  The thought was inspired by this inspiration photo at Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge.
Cute, isn't it?  Well, one of the things I'd love to have/do if I had millions, would be a nice sporty car and to travel the world!  Hmm.. so here's my take on the challenge... {smiles}

The polka dots road from the Geo-Graphic set, was stamped with Memento Tangelo on the cardbase.  The car from My Guy was coloured with Copic Markers (R02, R05, R08, C1, C3, C5, BG0000).  The bird, from My Peeps, was coloured with Copic Markers (B12, B14, BG0000, R05).  I just love this sentiment from Pretty Phrases, I split them up and stamped  them with Memento Tangelo and Rich Cocoa.  Then I fussy cut out the word peace and adhered it with pop dots on the card, and did a little outlining with BG0000 around the cut-out word.  I thought the bird would look great with a long scarf and I used Baker's Twine Cantaloupe and Mandarin.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for coming by.  Wishing you a Happy Week!!

Unity Friends with Flair (6.04.2012)

Hello Friends! Wishing you a blessed Good Friday and a Happy Easter!!  This weekend, as we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, may your hearts be filled with much joy and thankfulness.

On today's card, I got out my Twinkling H2O to paint the beautiful butterflies image from the IOD set "Love Never Fails".  I did some sponging as well with Distress Inks Evergreen Bough, Antique Linen and Spun Sugar.  The sentiment is from the set "Faith" and it was cut out using the Petite Ovals Spellbinders dies and sponged with Distress Ink Antique Linen.  I love this Scripture sentiment. The patterned papers are from Simple Stories Year-o-graphy 6x6 pad.

Thank you for visiting today. As always, I'm thankful for your comments - I love reading them & likewise I love to visit your blogs too.

Take care,
Kary

So Very Blessed

It's all about Spring for today's Inspired Stamps project.  I think of Spring as sunny days, flowers blooming, fresh colours and a new beginning.  There's such cheerfulness that this season brings.

When I set out to make this card, I had two stamp sets in mind that I wanted to use - i.e. the 1.5" Circle Greetings set as the focal image and the lace doily from Lovely Lace.  After stamping and cutting out the Circle Greeting and Lace Doily,  a shaped card came to mind.  I added two smaller die-cuts (cut from blue and orange patterned papers using Spellbinders dies) to layer the Circle Greeting and a large doily (green cardstock using Cheery Lynn Designs-English Tea Party Doily) just behind the stamped Doily.  Then I adhered two shaped die-cuts (using Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circle die) together to make the card base and adhere it to the back of the card front.

Here's another look at the card:

I hope you like the idea.  For more inspiration, please visit the rest of the Design Team's blogs and the Inspired Stamps' blog.

Thanks for visiting me today.  Have a blessed day!

Little Magician

Happy Tuesday!  Sharing a little Magician girl today and playing along with MFT Sketch challenge #65.  This little Magician brought to mind so many fun memories of magic shows in my childhood years.  I had a blast colouring her.
I used the following Copic markers - Skin (E000, E01, E11), Hair (E21, E23, E25), Top (RV00, RV02), Belt, Hair Pin & Shoes (R20, R21), Skirt (BV00, BV02, BV04), Tights (B60, B63, B66), Cape (C1, C3, C5, C9), Hat (E01, R20, E000, R21, C9, C5, C3).  Then I added some sparkle to her outfit using Atyou Spica Clear pen. The die-namics I've used are Oval Open Scallop Doily Duo (the larger doily), Chevrons Stripes and the Butterflies.  The papers are from Fancy Pants - Childish Things 6x6 pad.

On the front of the card, I masked off part of the sentiment, and stamped the other half on the inside... I know, it's pretty rare that I actually decorate the inside of a card. {grin}

And, here's the sketch :
This is such a fun and easy sketch to interpret.  Perhaps you can play along too ;)

Have a great day!
