Unity Hop {26 July 2018}

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the Unity Hop!  I'm so glad you stopped by. I've been busy trying to squeeze in every spare time I have to create because I LOVE this week's new Release.

The weather has been so cold and wet here and I'm almost dressed like this every day :)

I did a lot of fussy cutting around the sentiment - I really enjoy doing this.

I love creating clouds that look like snow.  To add the effect, I pounced the dauber onto the card for some additional texture.

Creating a wintry scene with this next stamp - I love a white Christmas :) It's always summer where I am end of the year.

I had to share this card because I love the image. When I coloured and created the card, I didn't know it was a self portrait of Angie Blom. I think she did an awesome job!

Lastly, I have to share two of my favourite cards from the July KOTM.

Thank you so much for visiting me.

Here is the full list of all of us who are hopping today:

Beyond Basics Background - Thanks

I seldom create backgrounds that are elaborate as most of my work are fast and easy due to my busy life. Today I took a little extra time to create a background that has several techniques inspired by the Class Beyond Basics Backgrounds.

The Altenew products I used are

Thanks Die - Altenew

Daisy Stamp Set - Altenew

Here's my card

Using the Mandala die, I die-cut it with kraft cardstock. Then I placed the die-cut over a piece of watercolour cardstock and spritzed some gold, red and green shimmer colours. When everything is dry, I took the die-cut and added Versamark all over the mandala section and gold heat embossed it and adhered it to the watercolour cardstock.

Next for the sentiment, I die-cut the word "Thanks" on white and black cardstock so that I have 3 pieces for each of them. I stacked and adhered the white together then the black. On the white die-cut I pressed the Versamark inkpad over it and heat embossed with orange embossing powder. I repeated this twice. Then I adhered the orange die-cut to the black and offset it a little.

For the flower, I used the Daisy stamp with Summer Afternoon inks and used Prismacolors for added definition near the flower centre. I stamped the leaves with Green Fields inks. All the images were then fussy cut out.

I adhered the sentiment to a strip of black and gold cardstock and placed the daisy and leaves as shown. To finish off the card, I added some floral sequins with silver stickles in the centres.

It has been fun to churn out the cards for the AECP assignments this weekend and I had so much fun with the various techniques.

See you!

Here's my card

On a piece of Canson watercolour cardstock, I stamped the roses, leaves and berries with Versamark and white heat embossed it. With various Zig Clean Color markers and a waterbrush I coloured the images.  Then I used Caribbean Sky ink diluted with water and fill in the sections between the stamped images.

I used a sentiment from the Hello Sunshine stamp set on vellum and white heat embossed it. Next, I die-cut the leaves and the tiny flower using the Rose Flurries die set on white cardstock. I used copic markers to colour the die-cuts.

To assemble the card, I cut a frame with orange cardstock and adhered the sentiment on the bottom section and a thin orange strip to ground it.  Then I adhered the leaf and flower die-cuts just next to the sentiment.

The watercolouring was so relaxing and something that I don't do very often.

Have a great day!

Thankful for your Friendship

What kind of cards do you make most?

I think I do a lot of birthdays and friendship themed cards. Today, I have a card which looks simple but took some effort to put together.  The card was inspired by the class Impressive Heat Embossing.

The Altenew products I used are:

Cross Stitch Flower Stamp
Here's my card

I was inspired by the multi-coloured embossing powder card.  For my card, instead of using different embossing powders, I decided to use clear embossing with coloured inkpads.  The Altenew inkpads I used are Evergreen, Forest Glades, Velvet, Crimson, Rouge and Blush.

First I die-cut the flower using white cardstock. Next I stamped a layer of the cross stitch flower with coloured inkpad, then stamped it again with Versamark. Then I poured clear embossing powder on the stamped section and heat embossed it.  I repeated this process for each of the layers.

The tiny butterfly was stamped and heat embossed the same way on another piece of cardstock and cut it out. I thought it would be nice to have some dimension for the butterfly and I adhered it to the cross stitch flower piece with foam adhesive.

To finish off the card, the sentiment was stamped and white heat embossed on a thin strip of black cardstock.  I snipped the ends of the sentiment piece and adhered it to the card with foam adhesive.

I hope you like the card.

Thanks for stopping by.

When I Think of You

Today's card was inspired by Nina-Marie's card with lots of colourful balloons in a white background.
My take is slightly different :) I decided on a white background with monochromatic leaves and a burst of colour with a bright pink flower.

The Altenew products I used are

Build-A-Rose set
Die_Dotted%20Scales%20Debossing%20Cover%20Die%20.jpg
Dotted Scales Debossing Cover die
Here's my card...

To create the monochromatic background, I used the 3rd layer leaf stamp and stamped it on white cardstock using Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades inks. Then I die-cut the background with the Dotted Scales Debossing Cover die and cut it slightly smaller than the cardbase.

Next I stamped the Rose and leaves on another piece of white cardstock and die-cut them out. The inks I used are Frosty Pink, Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, Evergreen and Jet Black.

For the sentiment, I decided to split the sentiments into two tones. I stamped "I Smile" using Black ink on white cardstock and the bottom half of the sentiment on a thin strip of black cardstock and white heat embossed. Then I adhered the black strip just below the top sentiment where it should be.

To finish the card, I assembled it and popped the flowers and leaves with foam adhesive for some added dimension.

Last week I just couldn't put a card together so I'm super glad to be more productive this weekend.

Have a lovely day!
