29 Again...?

Today is a really wet, wet, wet day.  It's been raining all day and so what better way to spend the day than making cards.  I've not been keeping up with making birthday cards,  and have loads of stamps and dies which I have been neglecting.  Somehow I always end up buying products faster than I can use them... sound familiar?

This is a card for a friend, whom I know won't mind a little teasing about his age.

I used the Paper Smooches stamp sets Surf and Turf and Birthday Sampler to make this fun card.  I love building a scene for my cards and the Surf & Turf critters are just perfect.  I also used the Border 1 Dies to create the sea and the land.  Thinking the card was a little bare, I added some white and gold glitter embossing powder on the kraft land section.

Hope you like the card ;)

You're My Universe

It's been a long time since I posted cards made with Paper Smooches stamps.  Today, as I hear news of another air disaster, this time involving a carrier which I fly with regularly to see my parents, I can't help but think how fragile life is.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those on board.

Strangely it gave me an inspiration to create this card.  I used the Space Cadet set and Borderlicious set for the card.  Took out my Copic markers and used lots of them to colour the images :)  Colouring is always therapeutic for me.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend wherever you are.  Keep safe, and treasure this life.

Thank you for visiting me.

Sending Prayers

Hi, hope you had a good weekend!  I didn't get to do much except more packing and purging stuff :)  I didn't have time to craft, but, I have a card to share which I created for a Copics competition which closes today.  I'm not an expert with Copics nor feel my colouring is good enough for competitions but the push for me to send in a card, was because it is for a good cause.  This little card will be going to a little girl who is fighting cancer, and I hope she will like it.

I have friends who are fighting cancer and those who have overcome it, and it saddens my heart to hear of children who are fighting the same disease.  How I wish there is a disease-free world for kids!  My only consolation is I believe in God and I know He is in control over all our lives.

This little girl was coloured with Copic markers (obviously :)) and she is a stamp from La-La Land Summer Marci, and the sentiment is from Paper Smooches Flap Happy

Thank you for visiting me.

Have a great week!

To The Special Couple

Just the other day I looked back on the cards I made when I first started stamping and cardmaking.  That, was a long time ago.  I used to love CAS cards so much.  Now, I don't make enough of them.  Funny how one's cardmaking style can evolve so much over time. Perhaps it comes easier when the Stamp set speaks to me... like this Paper Smooches set Hubby and Wifey.   For you who know me, I hardly make wedding nor baby cards - but I couldn't resist this wedding themed set, LOVE it!  For the card above, I drew the colour scheme inspiration from the challenge at Paper Smooches SPARKS.

There's a new challenge called Trend Watch (check it out!), and the current challenge inspiration is this fabulous picture...

Since I really wanted to use Hubby and Wifey set, I just followed the inspiration photo pretty loosely, and picked out the soft blue hues of the clouds for my card.  And hopefully, the embossing around the image is a little like the clouds or ray of sunshine that surrounds the image.

Thanks for visiting me.  Seems like I must be up on the mojo for I have endless ideas in my head this weekend for cards ;) so stay tuned...

Have a wonderful day!
Kary

A Change of View

I love this inspiration photo found at Paper Smooches' Sparks Challenge. The fruits in the waffle cones look absolutely delicious.  I just love the colours and the texture of the waffle cones.

Here's my take on the challenge:

To mimic the texture of the cones, I did some misting with The Crafter's Workshop template (Mini Screen) with Studio Calico's Mr Hueys ( Powder Blue and Pretty Pink).  The stamped images are all from Paper Smooches' Get Outta Town set.  I love this set! The images are stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and coloured with Copic markers.

Have a happy week!

Peace, Love and Happiness

What would you wish for if you were a millionaire?  I can think of LOTS!  The thought was inspired by this inspiration photo at Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge.
Cute, isn't it?  Well, one of the things I'd love to have/do if I had millions, would be a nice sporty car and to travel the world!  Hmm.. so here's my take on the challenge... {smiles}

The polka dots road from the Geo-Graphic set, was stamped with Memento Tangelo on the cardbase.  The car from My Guy was coloured with Copic Markers (R02, R05, R08, C1, C3, C5, BG0000).  The bird, from My Peeps, was coloured with Copic Markers (B12, B14, BG0000, R05).  I just love this sentiment from Pretty Phrases, I split them up and stamped  them with Memento Tangelo and Rich Cocoa.  Then I fussy cut out the word peace and adhered it with pop dots on the card, and did a little outlining with BG0000 around the cut-out word.  I thought the bird would look great with a long scarf and I used Baker's Twine Cantaloupe and Mandarin.

Here are some close ups:

Thanks for coming by.  Wishing you a Happy Week!!

You Light Up My Life

I was really in need for a pick-me-up this week.  My well-loved die-cut machine broke and I was sad for awhile until I bought a replacement machine yesterday.  It's like I couldn't do anything for a few days.  But, when I saw the Paper Smooches inspiration photo above, I was inspired to create a card.  I love the white felt, pom-poms and the bright colours of the bunnies' ears.

I just had to break out the new Geo-Graphic set with the Chevron stamp - love it! I thought it would work as waves for the idea I had in mind.  I stamped the chevron three times in different colours using Memento Rose Bud, Dandelion and Bamboo Leaves.  The lighthouse, from Smoocheroos set, was stamped on glitter white felt and I added some Copic Markers to match the Chevron colours.  I stamped the cute prawn, from the Surf and Turf set just above the chevron and again on white cardstock.  I coloured the image on the white cardstock with Copic Markers YR02, YR04, YR21, YR23.  Then I fussy cut it and adhered onto the stamped image on my card.  The sentiment (from Smoocheroos set) was stamped on white cardstock and I wrapped the bright pink pom-pom trim around it.

I'm submitting this card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.  If you have some Paper Smooches stamps or their free digis, do play along for some fun.

Take care!

Happy Bird-day!

I made this card a little while back and realised I've never shared it on my blog.  I can't recall what inspired me to it, cos this card has more patterned papers on it than usual {LOL!}, but I kinda like how it turned out.  The stamp sets used are from Paper Smooches (My Peeps - bird and Sentiment Sampler - sentiment) and the seam binding was inked with Milled Lavender Distress Stain.

It's the last week of my vacation already, and how time flies!  Wishing you a Lovely day!

Cheers

Love You Dearly

Hello! Since it's Valentine's week, here's another "love" themed card.  My card above was inspired by the photo on the current Paper Smooches Sparks' challenge.

I was inspired by the canvas texture on the photo, the sweet pink felt heart and the stitching.  Pretty obvious, isn't it?  I coloured the image from Chubby Chum Pals with Copics (Bear - R22, R21, R00; Cap - R24, R22, R20) and adhered two small  "shifty" eyes on the image.  The sentiment was from Pretty Phrases set, and I stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa and Rhubarb Stalk inks.

The kraft background was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder (I can't recall the name) and inked with some white pigment ink.  The felt heart was cut using Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Hearts die and the pink cardstock with Spellbinders Classic Hearts die.  It's been a long time since I did any hand stitching and I must say it was rather therapeutic ;)

Thanks for coming by.  Wishing you a lovely day!

A Painting and A Card

Hello!  How's your weekend going - I hope you are having a wonderful one.  I have been catching up on sleep and just enjoying a quiet day.

As you know my birthday was last month and I'm excited to share a cool present I received.  I reckon it's one of the BEST presents ever.  I've been nudging a friend of mine to start painting again, and after a year, he finally did it!  Here it is :

He said he's pretty "rusty" but I think it's a marvellous job!  I love the colours of autumn and the photo does not do justice to the real thing. The colours are beautiful and I love that he added a favourite colour of mine - teal, into the painting.  Gorgeous, isn't it?

Well, I can't paint, but the painting did inspire me to create a scene card with one of my newest Paper Smooches' set Promenade.  Nothing like the fabulous painting but I tried to use some similar colours on the card.

Here's a close-up:

I used Copic markers to colour the images, and tried a different technique for the pot plants.  Perhaps the light & shadows didn't quite work out the way I planned {grin}.  The clouds image was from the set Forest Whimsy.  I cut and popped up one of the clouds, and the awning just above the door - just for some interest.

Have a Lovely weekend!

Hi

Sometimes you see a picture and lots of happy thoughts come to mind. Here's the picture I'm referring to... isn't it a happy scene?  My favourite colour is blue and there's just enough blue here to bring smiles...

Of late, I've been pretty in love with Paper Smooches, I think the happy stamp images stir something within me.  Here's my take of the above Sparks challenge:

I used the images to mimic the frames on the wall, and coloured them with some of the colours I see in the picture.  I use the following images - the sun, heart, apple and gingerbread man from FOLKal Points with the toast from Wake Up, and sentiment from My Peeps.  The images were coloured with Copic Markers ( Toast & sentiment - BG02 & YG11, Sun - Y06 &Y08, Apple - B91, B93, YG01, YG07, E97 & colourless blender, Gingerbread man - E93, E97 & R21, Heart - R22 & R24).  On the white cardstock I added two score lines with my Scor-buddy to mimic the skirting on the wall, and added patterned paper (BasicGrey Picadilly) below it.

To make the images pop, I added Glossy Accents on them.  Finally I added some faux stitches, pearls and twines to finish off the card.

Hope you like the card & do participate in the challenge - I'd love to see your take too.

Thanks for visiting today.

Make A Wish & Winner of Week 1 Giveaway!!

Welcome to Week 2 Giveaway!  But first, I have a Birthday card to share - don't you love this sweet little girl?  She is Wee Suzi from Wee Stamps, a little birthday treat for myself.  (Some of you asked about my birthday, it was on Saturday 5 Nov - Guy Fawkes Day I'm told, no wonder I love fireworks!) The card is simple, with a sentiment from Paper Smooches.  I must admit I bought the Chit Chat (Paper Smooches) set all because of this sentiment - I love it.

For Copics fans, I used the following markers:
Skin - E50, E01, E13 (tried this combo from Sherrie Siemens, she colours so beautifully)
Hair - E21, E23, E25
Flower pot - E93, E95, E97
Flowers & leaves - V12, V15, V17, YG01, YG03, YG05, YG00, E93
Present - RV00, RV02, RV04, YG01, E93
Ladybird - R39, R32
Dress - V12, V15, V17, Colourless blender

A close up pic :

Alright, here's the part everyone is waiting for this week.  Week 2 Giveaway is another stamp set by The Girls' Paperie "Paper Girl".  I picked this set because I think it has elements that one can use again and again, I love the ruler, the dress form, the key, etc.
The only rule to get into the draw is to leave comments on my posts this week.  You don't need to be a follower of my blog to win this prize.  However, I might get really generous and throw in an extra prize if the lucky commenter who wins is a follower of my blog.  Hmm... actually, how about a Gina K stamp set for the winner who is also a follower?  I think I'm going to let that be a surprise item.  You have time to comment until Sunday 13 November (midnight my time zone - GMT + 8 hours), and I'll announce the winner on Monday 14 November.

I think I've kept you waiting a long time to announce the winner of Week 1's Prize.  Checking through the comments, I did a random draw,  and had random.org pick out a winner.  Drum rolls... pprrrummmm (how does a drum roll sound?)
It's...

Christine Ang!!!

Woo-hoo!!  Big Congrats, Christine !! And, since Christine is a follower of my blog, she wins the bonus prize, a $20 gift voucher as well!!  Christine, I've emailed you already and will be sending out your prize soon.

There's still 4 more weeks in November, so that means 4 more chances!  Good luck!!

Have a great week, everyone!
