Daisy Doodles Challenge #41

I had a blast working with the Postcard image the last challenge, and I couldn't resist using it again on this card.  I know some of you are enjoying your Summer holiday, so this card is especially for you.  Take time to have a good break and some fun!

On this card, I used the Postcard and the Notebook image from Schooltime.  I folded the Notebook a little and used pop dots on both ends of the book to give it some dimension.  The Notebook was coloured with Copic markers B01, E02, E00, E31.  The Postcard was distressed along the edges, and the stamp on it was coloured with colourpencils. To add a little interest, I adhered some tickets & stamped a sentiment on the card.

For details on the challenge and more inspiration, please visit the Daisy Doodles' blog.

Thanks for visiting, and have a lovely day!!

Beauty in All Things

This card came about, using stamps from the Unity June 2011 KOM.  It's a set that I've not used much :(  Sometimes, there's so much to play with that I forget.  I had help from the Unity KOM challenge sketch to create the card.  Here's the sketch:

I know, my post is very late for the FWF, but better late than never...  Please visit the Unity blog to see all the list of participants.  I know you will be inspired.

Enjoy your weekend!

Friends Forever

Hi Friends!  The weather is getting warmer here in Auckland, and it feels Spring is about to arrive.  It's always exciting when the seasons change.  Today I have another project using one of my favourite stamp sets, A Year of Borders by Melanie Muenchinger.

Despite the changing seasons of life, some things stay constant, like the love of dear friends.  I've always been blessed with great friends, and this card is dedicated to them.  You have indeed touched my life!

The cardbase was embossed with a woodgrain impression plate.  The stamped image was coloured with copic markers (YG11, YG13, YG17 (leaves) YR02, YR04, YR07, Colourless blender 0 (flowers)) and adhered to the card using pop dots.  The word "friends" was stamped onto the patterned paper.  For the blue strip, first I adhered the left piece on the card, then the longer strip was adhered with pop dots for some dimension.  The word "forever" was die cut from a woodgrain paper and adhered with Glossy Accents to the blue strip.  To add a little balance, I cut a small section of the floral image and attached it to the bottom of the card.  The patterned papers are from Echo Park & Jillibean Soup.

Have a blessed weekend!

A Thousand Miracles

Somedays I think my life is so ordinary and boring.  I'm typically a person who loves exciting adventures and learning new things, and not very good at being still.  When I came across this sentiment "In every ordinary day there are a thousand miracles" it was a good time to pause and reflect.  So true, isn't it?  I wrote about my dad before, that his memory is fast deteriorating.  These days he takes a longer time to remember my name :-(.  I feel so afraid to face the day when he no longer remembers who I am.  Now that I'm away from home, I know he looks forward to my calls and it's amazing that he recognises my voice.  We chat about the little things, and about God and faith too.  Small miracles, right?

Today's tag is also a response to the challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ.  I don't often make tags, I'm not sure why.  Perhaps I find it hard to work with a smaller area.  I decided on a CAS tag with no other embellishments except stamp images and some colour.  I hope you like the result.

Thanks for visiting me, and I so appreciate your comments & support. {smiles}  I hope your day is filled with many wonderful miracles.

You Are In My Thoughts

It's time for Tableau Tuesdays at Daisy Doodles.  I have another CAS card to share ;-), guess I am on the roll for CAS.  For my card, I used the Apple Basket image - love this sweet image.  I coloured the image with Copic Markers, I didn't have the right red markers for the apples but I suppose pink apples would work too.  The card measures 3.5 x 3.5" and I found a patterned paper which was perfect with the basket.  I cut a strip of kraft cardstock for the sentiment, and adhered it onto the card with foam adhesive.  Then I popped up the Apple Basket image and added a couple of blings to finish off the card.

Hope you are having a great day, and please visit the Daisy Doodles blog for some wonderful inspiration from the team.

Thanks!

Card Patterns Sketch 129

How was your weekend?  I didn't get to do very much... read a few books and went out with my sis to get some new equipment for the office.  I looked at the iPad2 and the new Macbook Pro, very very tempted to buy them, but I guess not yet.  Perhaps next year... ;)

After all that, I got home, made a card. You know, I think I'm in the mood for CAS cards lately. It's quite amazing that I've not touched my copic markers for sometime!

Here's the card :

Based on this sketch:

It's been a long while since I played along with Card Patterns sketches.  This is one I really like...but I had a bit of trouble keeping the focal image in the centre.  On my card, it just didn't look right, so I had to place it a little off to the side.  I played with a bit of masking and stamping on the cardbase.  For the centre strip on the cardbase, I used the mini doily stamp from TCM Just For You set, alternating the colours with Memento Pear Tart & Rose Bud (I did a second generation stamping with Rose Bud for a lighter pink).  The borders were stamped with one of the TCM Timeless Tags stamp with Memento Rich Cocoa.  The focal image large doily is from TCM Simply Delightful, I stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa and sponged Pear Tart around the outer edges and Rose Bud in the centre.  The sentiment is from the TCM Timeless Tags.

Hope you like the card ;-)

Just For You

I'm so glad to finally have some time to make a card for The Craft's Meow's sketch challenge.  It's been a long time since I made my own patterned paper/background... so I did a quite some stamping and colouring for this card using just one stamp set, "Simply Delightful" (love this set).  I kept the card pretty simple in two colours, lilac & pink.

The sun is out today, and I know tomorrow will be another beautiful day.  I hope the weather is lovely where you are.  Enjoy your weekend!

Unity Friends with Flair (19 August)

Happy Friday!!  So glad the weekend is almost here.  I hope the sun will be out so that I can go for a walk with my camera.  But first, it's time for Unity Friends with Flair.  Do visit the Unity blog, and come hop along with us.  Please remember to comment for your chance to win some Unity goodies.

I have a simple card to share today.  It's a 3.75 x 3.75" notecard.  I didn't feel like colouring at all today, so I settled for a monochromatic card.  I stamped the hot air balloon directly on a patterned paper and the sentiment on white cardstock.  Not wanting the card to be too plain, I added some stitches with Baker's Twine on the sentiment piece.

Thank you for visiting me today.  Have a wonderful weekend!!

Have a Lovely Day!

How's your week been?  It's been terribly cold where I am (Auckland) and it even snowed a few days ago.  It was around lunch time and we could see the snowflakes falling but it melted as soon as it hits the ground.  So I couldn't capture anything on my camera :(  I guess it was kind of historic as the last time it snowed in Auckland was back in 1939!

I'm hoping the weather will warm up soon.  Maybe a sunny card will help...

I enjoyed colouring this image, love the pinwheel.  It brought to mind so many wonderful memories of my childhood years.

Have a fab day!

Daisy Doodles Challenge #40 - Postcard

Happy Monday!  It's time again for a new Daisy Doodles Challenge, and this week, the challenge is to use a postcard on a project.  I decided to make a little fun tag this week.  I covered the tag with some patterned papers and resized the Daisy Doodles Postcard to fit.  Added some colouring to the images on the postcard and stamped the "Hello" sentiment on it.  To finish off the tag, I couldn't resist adding the pencil from the Schooltime set.

I hope you like the tag, and I'd like to invite you to participate in the challenge.  I can't wait to see what you create.

Flower Girl

If you have been visiting my blog, you'll know the two favourite elements I love to use on my cards are stamps and dies.  I love stamps that allow me to colour (so therapeutic), and fun dies to add interest to the card.  This card is a little more elaborate than my usual cards, and took me a little longer to put together.  The sweet Flower Girl image was coloured using Copic Markers and cut out.  Then I assembled the card using several dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and My Favorite Things.

Here's a closer look :

The pink heart was die-cut out and embossed using the matching heart die as the blue patterned paper and popped up with foam adhesive

Mini rosettes
I wished I looked half as sweet as this Pure Innocence Flower Girl years ago when I was a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding.  Hope you like the card.

I'll be back on Monday with a new Daisy Doodles challenge project.  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Unity Friends with Flair (12 August)

Today, I have a card to share which is perhaps not my usual style {grin}.  I'm not sure how to describe it, perhaps a little vintage.  The inspiration for the card came from the Cosmo Cricket Itty Bitty stamps and my all time favourite Cosmo Cricket paper collection, Odds and Ends.  Thanks to Lindsay of Cosmo Cricket for giving me these gorgeous stamps.

So, here's the card:

And a little close up:

So Sweet Of You

I have a CAS (Clean and Simple) card to share today.  This card came together pretty quickly with the Simply Delightful stamp set by The Craft's Meow.  The images were stamped directly onto a piece of white cardstock with Memento inks.  No colouring needed!  (This is getting fun, I'm beginning to like solid images like these and put away my markers).

My card was based on the colour scheme below by Embellish Magazine.  I'm usually not very good with colour challenges but this was a breeze.  Do play along for a chance to win a stamp set from The Craft's Meow.  The details are here

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a good day!

Lily Pad Cards Inspiration Challenge

I hope you are having a marvellous weekend!  I borrowed a number of books from the library to read but I ended up sleeping half the weekend away ;-)

Today I have a card for the Inspiration challenge at Lily Pad Cards.   My card was inspired by the carnival theme.  Some of my best childhood memories were at the carnival, getting on the fun rides and having a try at the game booths. Carnival in my mind also involves the circus, which is the main subject of my card.

Here's a closer look:

I couldn't wait to ink up a new stamp set, by Taylored Expressions "Life is a Circus".  This set is perfect for colouring and I love the happy images and sweet sentiments.  All the stamped images were coloured with copic markers and cut out.  The train & sentiment were popped up with foam adhesive for added dimension.  The darker pink layer was embossed with two doilies dies for subtle interest.  To finish off the card, I added some white faux stitch lines.  What do you think?  It's a really bright card, isn't it?

My card above, was inspired by this card by Nancy.  I love how fun her card is, the bright colours and the ticket stamps.

Thank you for visiting today.  Do have a great week!

Unity Friends with Flair (5 August)

Hello Friends!  It's nice to be back, playing along with Unity FWF this week.

I love this little typewriter stamp.  Not many people have typewriters anymore, but when I was young, we didn't have computers, but my dad had an old typewriter.  I was so fascinated by that little machine and I spent hours learning the keystrokes with the help of my mum's really old typing manual.  That was a worthwhile effort because I can type pretty fast on my keyboard today, with all my fingers ;-)

Here's a closer look at the card:

I've kept the card fairly simple with a little colouring on the stamped image.  I love these new papers by Jillibean Soup, Sweet & Sour Soup.

Please remember to visit the Unity blog to see all the other participants for FWF this week, and comment along for a chance to win some Unity stamps.

Have a great day!

Meeting my Online Friends

Two weeks ago I was in Chicago with my sister, and the highlight of the trip was meeting my stamping & cardmaking friends.  It was Amazing!!  I was thoroughly thrilled to meet the ladies I got to know online at StampTV and also Kim of MFT (My Favorite Things) and her design team.  Awesome!!

However, I forgot to bring along my camera (what was I thinking!!!), and so I only have 2 pictures to share, courtesy of Lori & Kim:

My StampTV friends : Backrow - Deb, Lori, Kary, Karen. Seated - Vicki

At the MFT Booth with Jody & Kim
I had a really great time, and I wished I had taken some photos but it's ok because I have all the wonderful stamps & craft goodies purchased to remind me of the time.

After Chicago, I'm inspired to get back to cardmaking.  Here's my card for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club this week...
Notice the awesome new stamp - My Heart Belongs To? I absolutely love it!  So much so, till I didn't do any colouring!! That's rare, isn't it?

The card was based on this sketch -
Ok, that's it from me today.  I hope you'll have an amazing day!!
