Playing with New Dies

Hello Everyone.  I hope you are having a great week so far.  I'm so tired helping my sister organise an event last weekend, but we're happy it turned out pretty well.

Today, I'm sharing some cards made recently with some new dies I got to play with.  These dies are awesome!!

Here's the first card - I used the new Bo Bunny Gabrielle 6x6 pad (so beautiful papers!) for this card.  I hope you can see all the gorgeous details in those die cut butterflies - they are the Dimensional dies by Cheery Lynn Designs.  On hindsight, I think I should have inked the die before embossing the butterflies for more dimension.

Here's the second card.. notice that beautiful doily behind the lampshade?  I love it!!  It's called Italian Flourish doily and it's just amazing.

The last card has a more detailed doily - Kiwi Doily.  I love the details in the doily and how beautiful it looks.  There's embossing and piercing all in just one die.  How awesome is that!

I guess you can tell how much fun I've had with the new Cheery Lynn Designs dies.  I think I'm going to have to collect more of the CLD dies.

Till the next post... have a lovely day!

Hello, Cupcake

I've been quiet the past week, so busy with work.  So, I thought I'd post a birthday card I made recently, for a friend.  The card is still with me, I shall have to post it sometime tomorrow ;)

And the inside of the card (sorry, it's a little blurry..) :

I shall be back later this week with some more cards, when things are not so hectic ;)

Have a happy week!

Count Your Blessings

Today, I have a quick and easy card to share.  I had some leftover stamping pieces which I've already coloured, it was a waste not to use them somehow.  So, I cut them out and used almost all the pieces on this card:

The patterned paper is from Webster's Pages' 6x6 WonderFall pack.  It's already so pretty and I just added the butterflies and some lace & button  to finish up the card.  There was no need to add any sentiments as the words at the bottom of the paper say it all - "Count Your Blessings".

So true, isn't it - there's much to be thankful for in this life...

Paper : Webster's Pages 6x6 petite pad

A Happy Day!

Hi Dear Blogging Friends!  Today, my post is not about cards, I just want to say a BIG Thank You to all of you who visit my blog, and leaving me such lovely & kind comments.  It means a lot to me.

I started blogging because I wanted a place as a creative outlet to post all my little cards & projects.  And, a place to journal a little on my travel adventures.  I never thought I would meet friends from all over the world!  It's amazing!  For many years, I've been a solo little cardmaker in Kuala Lumpur who doesn't know anyone else who is as crazy as I am about stamping & cardmaking.  I felt so alone, but now, through blogging, etc, I've met others who are such avid stampers and cardmakers.  I am truly inspired!

I would also like to thank Melanie Muenchinger, who had faith in me when she invited me to be her Guest Designer for her wonderful stamp set "A Year of Borders".  I love her stamps and I had so much fun creating all the projects - every card/project made was from my heart, and I hope it comes through.  Today, she gave me a special mention on her blog, featuring a Spring card I made using the flower borders. Thanks, Melanie for appreciating my work.

I also had a little suprise from Emily Leiphart who awarded me a Liebster Blog Award.  Emily is such a talented crafter, and I love her work.  I'm still learning about this, and I will certainly be passing it on others.  Thanks, Emily!!
Lastly, I'd like to share a photo of me in Prague (taken a couple of years back), which I think is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Thank you so much for visiting me.

Take good care, and have an Amazing day!!

Card Patterns Challenge

I really like the sketch at Card Patterns this week.  I've been meaning to make a card like that, so the challenge is a good one to play along.  Here's the sketch:

And, here's my card:

Can you recognise the patterned papers?  Yupe, it's Cosmo Cricket Circa again...  I've been trying hard to be a good girl to use up my 6x6 pad.  Haha...  The card measures 4.25x4.25".  I embossed the cardbase with an embossing folder, then assembled it with the patterned papers & stamped images.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope your day is wonderful!

Sweetest Day Tag

How's your weekend going?

It's already Sunday where I am, and I stayed up really late last night watching the news on Japan. It's so heart wrenching to see the devastation brought by the earthquake & tsunami - my thoughts and prayers go out to the people there.

Today, I've done something different.  My sister & I fell in love with this Jillibean Itty Bitty stamp, Sweetest Day.  We did a "make & take" at the Unity booth with Jill using these stamps, and we really adore the image & sentiment.  I love everything strawberries, i.e. the fruit, jam, biscuits, ice-cream...  Strawberries are so brightly coloured and they seem to bring so much cheer.

Here's my tag:

I hope the tag brings a smile and I do wish you the Sweetest day Ever!!

Flower Girl

Hello again.  I hope your week is going great.  Despite perhaps busy schedules, I hope you will find time to be creative too.

Today, I'm sharing a card using the second image in the Flower Girls stamp set.  I know I've said it before but the little girl is so adorable, and I had so much fun colouring this image - makes me smile.

Aside from shades of blue/teal, I'd have to say my other favourite colour would be pink.  But, truthfully, for this card, everything started with the pink ribbon.  Then I coloured the stamped image and selected the patterned paper & cardbase to match.  I suppose it's an odd way to make a card, but sometimes it's fun to be random.

Hugs

Lawnscaping Challenge

Hello Everyone!!  I'm a fan of Lawn Fawn stamps, they are so cute & adorable, and great for colouring.  So, I guess you can imagine how excited I am to be a Guest Designer at Lawnscaping Challenge this week!

Here's the Challenge :

I gotta admit it sounded pretty "challenging" at first, but after some thought I begin to see possibilities.  Here's what I made (plus a little tutorial on how to make the flower down below):

I used one of my favourite stamps from Bannerific set to make a flower.  I thought it would be a fun idea, and to discover new ways of using a stamp set.  Here's a closer view of the flower:

A close up view of the flower.
Notice the tiny red heart above the word friend?  That's a tiny heart from the hearts background stamp of the Teeny Tiny Backdrops set.  I inked up one little heart with a red marker, and stamped it above the letter "i".  Then I used the pen tip of the marker to trace an outline around the heart.  I also used the tiny stars background stamp from the same set to make add a strip of pattern on the white cardstock.

Does this sound fun?  I hope you will join us in the challenge.  It's a fantastic prize this week - your choice of any Lawn Fawn stamp set!!  Read all about the challenge here, or by clicking on the image below:

Remember to submit your entry by Wednesday, March 16, 2011.

Thanks for stopping by.

Have fun!

Here's a little tutorial on how to make the flower:

Stamp the banners several times on two different patterned papers.

Trim the individual images as shown.

Cut a round piece of cardstock as the base for assembling the flower petals.  Add some adhesive on the back of each 'petal' and adhere onto the round base.  You will need approximately 7 'petals'.

After all 7 petals are adhered, place a button as the flower centre.   And, you have a cute handmade flower!!  If you want to stack 2 layers of petals like I did, punch out a larger round base, and arrange the petals a little further apart.  I hope you will try this idea.

Sweet Fairy Girl

My girlfriend, AY just had a birthday on Sunday.  We've known each other for 29 years!!  That's a long, long time, isn't it? We've been through so many seasons of life together - fun holidays, crazy scary white water rafting trips, shopping, seeing our mums through heart bypasses, funerals of loved ones, being burgled, hours and hours of non-stop chatting & our love for food.

We always, always go out to celebrate each other's birthdays, but this year I'm away so we'll have get together when I get home next month.  AY said I should save a card and hand it personally to her.

I'm happy to do so, but, I thought it would be nice to dedicate a card to her as well on my blog.  Here's the card, with a sweet image from Summer Fairies stamp set:

It's a pretty simple card, with the Fairy girl as the focal image. The two handmade flowers were made with the Imaginisce Petal Roller. It's really easy to use and I think the flower looks much neater, than doing it without the tool.

I know AY doesn't read my blog but I think I'm gonna send her the link ;-)  Just so she knows I'm thinking of her.  It's so precious to have an "old" friend - someone who looks out for me, and speaks the truth always and most of all, one who has touched & enriched my life.  Happy Birthday, AY!  I'm so thankful for your love & friendship.  It means a lot.

Flower Girl

Today's card has one of my favourite images - it's from a stamp set called Flower Girls.  There are 3 beautiful flower girls and a few more tiny stamps, all of which are so adorable - I just couldn't resist colouring this one.

Isn't she so adorable?

What are your plans for the weekend?  I think I'm going to do some reading, more stamping hopefully and perhaps a little walk around & take some photos if the weather is good.

Take care.

Love Life

Hi again.  For today's card, I used a stamp set called Fairies 1 (borrowed this from my sister).  Athough the stamp is not the usual photopolymer ones I'm used to, they work pretty well, and I love the super sweet images.  I'll be posting a few more cards the next few days so you know why I love the images.

Here's the card:

I hope the card brings a smile.  Have a beautiful day!

Sunny Happy Skies

There's something about hot air balloons - I think it gives one a sense of fun and bliss.  That's a little of how I was feeling when I put this card together.

I used the stamp sets from Unity/Bella Blvd's Sunny Happy Skies (the set comes with lots of clouds stamps to choose from) and Lawn Fawn's Bannerific & Sophie's Sentiments for the card.  Did some really basic copics colouring, and cut out the images & assembled the card.

Have a cheerful day!
